Take Back Your Life: Start to Get Back to Normal
COVID19 got you down? But wait there’s more, guess what else you have won? An all-inclusive, racist reality with a bounty of civil unrest.
Are you exhausted?
Do you feel trapped behind your face mask and your front door?
Is your anxiety about to collapse under its own weight and create a black hole inside the universe?
Are you walking around your house like a caged animal ready to attack at any minute?
Have you done every home improvement known to man?
If you said yes to any of these questions then you are ready for a new beginning. Today is the first day of the rest of our life.
Remove yourself from all of the heartaches and begin your rebirth into the world. You need to get away from your home that has been transformed into a prison.
Escape away, back to nature. Live wild and free. Breathe the fresh air. Become human again by finding any inkling of humanity you have left. Head out to open green spaces. Find the power of nature and heal your injured soul.
It is time to take back your life and improve your mental health. Start to get back to normal by visiting a green space.
If you have worries about leaving your home. Just keep in mind that green spaces offer the most important precaution you can take during these uncertain times, social distancing.
Green Space Ideas
To find comfort in the glorious world around you, here are some suggestions for getting back to nature.
National Park or State Park
This is the perfect place to escape and get away. To find a park closest to you check out the National Park Service’s website.
Hiking and exploring will get your blood pumping. Exercise is shown to help with anxiety and depression. Get moving and expel some pent up energy.
Bring a blanket and a lunch and relax under a shady tree while the breeze blows through the trees. Close your eyes and listen to the birds singing their song. Run your fingers through the grass and feel how it tickles your fingertips. Numerous studies have tested the efficacy of being mindful of your surroundings. It is a form of meditation and reduces the levels of anxiety and depression.
Camping
For a longer green space immersion experience, I would recommend a camping trip.
I just arrived back home from a camping trip in the mountains of Tennessee and feel so much less tension and stress.
Falling asleep with only the sounds of the night was amazing. I woke up every morning ready and excited to take on my day.
You can find camping spots and book safely online through Recreation.gov. This is the website I used to find the perfect spot. They also have a handy app that you can download.

Get Outside and Garden
Lastly, if you are unable to travel or can not make it to a green space away from home I would recommend gardening. Touching the earth is extremely therapeutic.
Gardening has been shown to reduce stress and improve mood with a reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety; says the Royal College of Physicians.
So get out there and get a little dirty.
Conclusion
I hope this article finds you and you are able to take back your life and start to get back to normal. It might take a while to see a semblance of life as you knew it.
But if you surround yourself with nature you will begin to heal and find an improved mood, outlook, and overall mental health. Nature is out there just waiting for you so submerge yourself.
Just remember my fellow travel friends, we are all in this together.
